Shipping policy

How is shipping calculated?

Unless otherwise stated on the product page, shipping rates are primarily determined by your fabricator’s ZIP code, the number of slabs, and total shipment weight.

Are my materials insured during transit?

For products sold by vendors on the STONEGEMS website, please consult your vendor for more information. All orders shipped using STONEGEMS’ shipping services are fully insured.

Where do shipments originate?

All orders ship from New York.

Do you ship internationally?

For international shipping inquiries, please contact our concierge team for additional details and availability.

How long does delivery take?

Slabs typically ship within 1–2 weeks from the date of purchase. Once shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation with estimated delivery details. For a more precise timeline based on your destination, please contact our concierge team.

Who handles shipping?

We partner with a third-party logistics provider that utilizes fully insured carriers.

Where will my stone be delivered?

Your stone will be shipped directly to your fabricator. STONEGEMS coordinates all shipping logistics and will notify you once arrangements are confirmed. If you do not yet have a fabricator, our concierge team can assist in selecting a qualified partner.

DELIVERY & RECEIVING

How will my materials be delivered?

  • Cut-to-Size Orders: Delivered in custom wooden crates designed specifically for your slab dimensions.

  • Natural Stone Slabs: Delivered to a fabrication facility equipped with a forklift and clamp for unloading.

  • Porcelain Slabs: Delivered door-to-door. Large-format porcelain slabs may be delivered directly to the job site; a licensed contractor must be present at the time of delivery.

What equipment is required to receive natural stone slabs?

The receiving fabrication facility must have a forklift with a clamp attachment to safely unload natural stone slabs.

DAMAGES & CLAIMS

Natural stone may contain inherent characteristics such as pits, fissures, or filled areas. These are natural and expected. If we observe anything outside of typical characteristics prior to shipment, we will notify you in advance.

While every measure is taken to ensure slabs leave our warehouse in excellent condition, damage may occur during transit. For this reason, all shipments are fully insured.

Inspection Requirements:

  • The purchaser or fabricator must inspect all materials upon delivery.

  • Any damage must be clearly noted on the receiving manifest at the time of delivery.

  • Photographic documentation of the damage is required.

Once documented, STONEGEMS will file an insurance claim within 24 hours, coordinate slab return with the carrier, and issue a full refund upon claim approval. No additional costs will be incurred for transit-related damage when proper documentation is provided.

POST-DELIVERY RESPONSIBILITY

Who is responsible for the slabs after delivery?

Responsibility for the slabs transfers to your fabricator immediately upon successful delivery and inspection.

What if a slab is damaged by the fabricator?

Any damage occurring after delivery and inspection is the responsibility of the fabricator. Most reputable fabricators carry insurance or can source replacement material if necessary. If this occurs, please contact our concierge team and we will assist in finding a suitable replacement that coordinates with your existing slabs.
